Scottish Celtic banned fans of the Green Brigade fan movement from attending matches, who unfurled Palestinian flags in the stands. Their season tickets were suspended.
The club said in a statement that “political messages and banners” were not welcome after the Green Brigade waved “Free Palestine” and “Victory of the Resistance” flags.
The club warned fans about this, but they unfurled Palestinian flags at the match against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League. And before that they were waving them at an away match against Hearts in the Scottish top flight.

As a result , approximately 200 Green Brigade members received notice that their memberships were suspended. Celtic's statement made no mention of Palestine, but said the season ticket suspension was due to “repeated incidents of unacceptable behaviour”.
It is noted that the Green Brigade fan movement will be absent from the upcoming match against St Mirren, but the ban could be lifted if negotiations with the leaders of the fan group “prove to be productive”.
Celtic Ultras traditionally stage a performance before the club's matches, but recently they have been waving Palestinian flags instead.
