An unknown man committed either an act of vandalism or an environmental action in the Louvre in Paris. He stained Leonardo da Vinci's legendary Mona Lisa with cake.

An unknown man stained the Mona Lisa with a cake

On Sunday, May 29, a man disguised as an elderly woman arrived at the museum in a wheelchair. Approaching the Gioconda, he suddenly stood up, threw off his wig and tried to break the protective glass.

Nothing came of it, so he began to smear the cream cake on the glass, which he seemed to have brought with him. At the end of his “performance”, the man also scattered roses in the hall. After that, the guards took him out.

When he was taken out, the man began to scream, trying to explain the reason and content of his act.

Think of the Earth, artists think of the Earth. All artists think about the Earth. That's why I did it,” the man repeated enigmatically.

According to the man, it can be concluded that it was an action aimed at protecting nature. However, they can be interpreted in different ways.

The painting survived

Fortunately, the Mona Lisa is protected by special bulletproof glass. The vandal failed to damage or break it, so they had to smear the cake all over it. Thanks to this, it was enough to wipe the picture to return it to its normal form.

The museum management and law enforcement officers have not yet commented on the incident.
