The Russian general was informed of the suspicion in absentia/Collage of Channel 24
The Ukrainian law enforcement system continues to identify those involved in war crimes. It not only collects data on the occupiers, but also declares suspicion to them and brings cases to court.
Yes, the SBU announced the suspicion of not an ordinary soldier. This time it is about a Russian general. He, according to investigators, pumped up to attack the settlements of the Zaporozhye region.
Civilians died from the orders of the general
It is known that the accused Lieutenant General led the 58th Army of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces. In March, the military, under his chairmanship, broke into the territory of our state from the south.
Investigators note that it was the defendant who given orders to hit Zaporozhye. It is known that the implementation of his instructions claimed lives and caused injuries among the civilian population. In addition, houses, objects of both civilian and critical infrastructure were destroyed.
The general of the Russian army was announced of suspicion in absentia. It is also unknown how long they plan to put him behind bars.
Russian occupiers are already on trial in Ukraine
Let us note that two Russian military men Alexander Bobykin and Alexander Ivanov are currently on trial. They face up to 12 years in prison for deliberately shelling civilians in the Kharkiv region.
According to the prosecution, at first the infidels beat the area from the village of Malinovka, in the Belgorod region. Subsequently, they crossed the border into Ukraine and attacked civilians from here. This was done by the invaders from the Grad MLRS.
On May 26, a debate took place between the prosecution and the defense. The defendants themselves fully admitted their guilt and hope that repentance will reduce the term.
But the day before, the verdict was announced to 21-year-old Russian military Vadim Shishimarin. Judges of the Solomensky District Court of Kyiv sentenced him to life imprisonment. The reason for such a verdict was the deliberate murder by the invader of 62-year-old resident of the Sumy region Alexander Shelipov. The latter, according to law enforcement officers, was unarmed and did not threaten the invaders in any way.
Neither sincere repentance, nor the active position of Shishimarin's defender changed the court's decision. The lawyer of the Russian military himself has already promised to file an appeal. Like, the court did not take into account the fact that his client committed the crime under duress.
