SBU destroyed a criminal group operating in Kyiv under the guise of a volunteer battalion

They discovered this during a special operation in Kyiv, carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The gang consisted of 5 people of different nationalities. Their activities on the territory of Russia were led by a native of Dagestan, controlled by representatives of the Russian special services.

To mask their criminal activities, the gang members settled in the ranks of a volunteer battalion in one of the capital's districts. Using the documents of figureheads, they received automatic weapons in the unit, which were subsequently hidden at their places of residence.

A whole arsenal has been confiscated from the attackers. Among them:

  • 29 Kalashnikov assault rifles,
  • grenade launcher,
  • RPK machine gun,
  • 2 combat pistols TT and Glock- 17,
  • more than a thousand rounds of various calibers,
  • 1.2 kilograms of explosives,
  • live grenades.

By According to investigators, the attackers planned to use the stolen assault rifles to destabilize the situation in the region.

Suspicion was reported to one of the active members of the gang. The issue of criminal liability of other participants and persons involved in it is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation continues.
