European politicians have been trying to “save face” for Putin ever since Russia's aggression against Georgia. Read more in the channel 24 website exclusive.

Even some European politicians agree to end the war with some territorial gains for Russia (as a result of the annexation of part of the territory of Ukraine) and thus stabilize the situation.

Zelensky's reaction

The case in that such a scenario of the development of the situation does not suit either Ukrainian society or Ukrainian politicians for the most part.

A simple argument: why were all these sacrifices necessary? It was precisely on the basis of the mood in society that Zelensky rejected all such attempts by the West.

The influence of France and Germany on Ukraine has noticeably decreased in recent years. France and Germany pursued a very cautious policy towards Putin, and for a long time refused to help Ukraine with weapons. They began to change their positions due to very serious pressure from the world community.

British support

The British course on the “Ukrainian” issue was formulated already in the first days of the war and looked even tougher American.

British politicians led by Boris Johnson have continuously demanded serious sanctions against Russia and large-scale arms supplies to Ukraine. Of course, these efforts have received full support in Kyiv and open up opportunities for expanding Britain's influence on Ukraine in the long term.

The Black Sea ports of Ukraine have a special trade interest for England, so they actively lobbied for the transfer of anti-ship missiles to Kyiv to protect them and subsequent, if possible, deblockade.

Meanwhile, France and Germany missed the moment and now Great Britain is strengthening its influence, taking advantage of the fact that the British had leverage over Bulgaria and Turkey since the 19th century. Erdogan often acts within the framework of the British order.

In essence, a new zone of British influence is being created in the Black Sea basin, the purpose of which is to squeeze Russia out of this area, including by defeating the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. If this task is completed, England will be able to significantly strengthen its position.
