During an address to the Russians, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin openly threatened the world with the use of nuclear weapons. The head of the Kremlin spoke about “all available means” of the country.
Officially, Russia has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world. About what he was going to threaten the way and how serious the threat is – read in the material Channel 24 .
What did Putin say again
Sabre rattling is one of the favorite methods of struggle for Russians. Especially often the Kremlin uses the fact of having the largest nuclear arsenal for various threats to the world.
During an urgent appeal to the Russians, which was so urgent that it was postponed from the evening of September 20 to the morning of the next day, Putin threatened to weapon to the world and even clarified that it was not a bluff.
To those who allow themselves such statements, I want to remind you that our country has different means of mass destruction, and for individual components even more modern ones. When the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal. This is not a bluff! The citizens of Russia can be sure that the integrity of our fatherland, our independence and freedom will be ensured,” Putin said.
But is such a “modern” weapon really in Russia? The question is open, because the data on the nuclear arsenal of a particular country is very approximate – often the number and condition of warheads remain unknown.
What is Russia's nuclear arsenal.
According to the Federation of American Scientists, Russia's nuclear triad consists of about 5,977 warheads. However, 1500 of them are decommissioned devices. That is, the Kremlin has almost 4,500 nuclear warheads at its disposal.
A significant part of Russia's nuclear arsenal is made up of intercontinental ballistic missiles, which the aggressor country has 1,185 units. Russia also has ballistic missiles for launches from a submarine (we are transferring control to the Kursk nuclear submarine). Their American experts counted about 800 people.
In addition, the Kremlin has at its disposal charges for launching from nuclear bombers – about 580 warheads.
The rest of the Russian triad consists of warheads for use at short distances on the battlefields or at sea.
What is the state of Russia's nuclear weapons
Back in 2021, according to the International campaign to eliminate nuclear weapons, Russia spent $8 billion in 2020 to maintain its arsenal. But there is an interesting point here – in the United States, the arsenal is a few warheads smaller, but according to the same report, $ 37.4 billion was spent on servicing nuclear weapons in 2020.
The difference between these amounts is enormous. And now let’s also take into account the remarkable fact that we are talking about Russia, a country where billions of dollars for the training of the army and intelligence networks in Ukraine were simply appropriated by officials and officials, because of which the “three-day war” for the Kremlin turned into half a year of struggle and declarations of partial mobilization.
So one can only guess what part of the amount officially allocated for nuclear weapons was actually used for its intended purpose. And what does it mean? It's very simple – negligence in the maintenance of weapons can lead to the fact that the number of defective weapons may increase. =”anchor-link” id=”Nuclear strikes and pseudo-referendums” name=”Nuclear strikes and pseudo-referendums”>Nuclear strikes and pseudo-referendums: what is the connection between them
On September 20, Gauleiters and militants in the temporarily occupied territories announced urgent holding of pseudo-referendums for joining Russia. And what does this mean in practice? Russia will proclaim the territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions as its own and can issue ultimatums and blackmail with nuclear weapons.
The same opinion was expressed by political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman. According to him, after the referenda, the ways and Shoigu can announce an ultimatum to Ukraine on the withdrawal of troops from the territory of the above-mentioned regions. In his address, Putin spoke about “threats to territorial integrity”, so this scenario is one of the most likely.
