However, the West has not done enough for this. Political scientist Mikhail Bessarab told Channel 24 about this.
He stressed that Western assistance is very important in Ukraine's struggle against the aggressor. We really really need this. Unfortunately, if we are talking about ending the war and punishing Russia, the actions of our partners are not enough yet.
Russian aggression must be immediately stopped in order to give a clear signal to other totalitarian regimes of the planet that any violation of international law and order is subject to a proper response from the world community.

Statements are being made around the world that the opportunity to reach an agreement with Russia should not be missed. Of course, these hopes are very misleading. But the establishment of relations will not benefit either the international order, or Western partners, or Ukraine.
“Every day of delay with harsh and unequivocal punishment of Russia for violating international law, international order is a very bad signal to other totalitarian regimes, closely watching the dynamics of Russia's actions and the reaction of the West,” Bessarab emphasized.
The West could stop Russia before February 24
According to the political scientist, world leaders had every opportunity to prevent a war in Ukraine. The West could tell Putin that an invasion would have dire consequences for Russia. Appropriate measures must be applied by February 24.
The lack of proper response from the West led to the path to a great war against Ukraine, he stressed.
Sanctions should feel ordinary Russians
Each subsequent sanctions package should be a serious blow to Russia. It is important that ordinary citizens feel this as soon as possible. “Only then will they have a complete negative impact, a full effect on Russia,” Bessarab believes.
Military assistance should be prompt
Ukraine has different partners in this war. Therefore, one cannot compare the help of Great Britain, which is doing the impossible, and Germany, which is acting rather slowly. Bessarab is convinced that our partners must be resolute. The event should be the only one in making certain decisions on the supply of non-meal weapons to Ukraine.
New military threats in the world: in short
- The world was stirred up by the aggravation of the situation around China and Taiwan. The likelihood of a real armed conflict is quite high.
- The Balkan Peninsula is also restless. The old dispute between Serbia and Kosovo could turn into a real war.
