Fighting continues in three areas
Serhiy Gaidai, head of the Lugansk OVA, spoke about the situation in the Luhansk region. According to him, in 8 directions, where the enemy's assault failed, the invaders had to retreat under pressure from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, fighting is still going on in three areas.
Over the past night, the Russian military fired 12 rockets in the Luhansk region. The enemy opened fire from cannon artillery 16 times and two more from rocket artillery.
Over the past day, the Russians used aircraft near eight settlements located on the border of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.
Sergei Gaidai said that more than a month had passed since the capture of Lisichansk, but the invaders were able to advance a maximum of 10 kilometers. A significant part of these territories, as the head of the Luhansk OVA said, is the vicinity of Lisichansk itself and the surrounding villages.
According to him, the invaders try to move forward in the Verkhnekamensky area two to three times a week. The Russians tried to carry out one of the offensives on August 10, but were forced to withdraw with losses.
In other areas where the enemy has tried to break through our defenses, the progress over the past month has been even less noticeable. Despite the constant intensive use of artillery in these areas, the enemy was unable to form a sufficiently combat-ready group of troops in order to ensure a massive offensive, Gaidai stated.
The Russians fail to capture the Luhansk region
- Russian dictator Vladimir Putin gave the order to seize the Lugansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine. The invaders hoped to quickly establish control over the Luhansk region, but spent more than a month temporarily occupying Severodonetsk and Lysichansk.
- On August 8, Sergei Gaidai announced that Russian troops could not completely capture the territory of the Luhansk region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine still hold a small part of the Luhansk region. In particular, we are talking about the villages of Belogorovka and Verkhnekamenka.
- There, the invaders cannot pass the defense line for several weeks.
