The day before, the network stirred up a video in which the invaders shoot the Ukrainian captive Timofey Shadura. The last words of the military was the slogan “Glory to Ukraine.”
Traditionally, the Kremlin is now coordinating certain versions and reactions to what happened. Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin told Channel 24 about this.
What versions are available
According to the human rights activist, the Russians have several options:
- the Ukrainians themselves shot and posted it on the net;
- all this is staged, in fact there was nothing;
- In a war, this happens on both sides.
They need to influence to bring down this wave. Informationally, they will belittle the importance of Timothy Shadura and his death, the indignation and anger of the Ukrainian people, and so on. This is not the first time we have seen this. But everything is clear – it was a shooting. Legally, there is nothing to analyze, this is a war crime, for which they should be punished,” the human rights activist noted.
It's not just about those, he continued, who are behind the scenes, but also about those who gave orders. From the lowest to the highest ranks. As the human rights activist noted, the Russian side should also investigate this crime and name those who took part in it.
“There is no hope for this. They will be rewarded rather than punished. If another government comes, not this cannibalistic one, it must itself judge these people according to the law. The most severe punishment is provided for this,” says Feigin.
First of all, you need to get the body of the Ukrainian military. According to Feygin, Russia may simply not extradite him in order to hide the crimes. Theoretically, the Red Cross and the UN should help us.
You can establish a plot in the Bakhmut area where the crime occurred. But getting into this territory, into the war zone… If the body was buried, exhuming it is a whole procedure, not an ambulance. It is unlikely that anyone from the Ukrainian side will be allowed in,” the Russian human rights activist notes.
At best, he says, Moscow can hand it over itself. They may also try to trade the body for one of their important prisoners of war.
Feigin believes that the invaders were going to shoot Shadura anyway. He shouted the slogan “Glory to Ukraine” before his inevitable death.
“I don’t understand under what circumstances the video appeared and who the source was. It’s impossible to sort out the chaos of publications. The investigation will establish everything, this is a technical issue,” the human rights activist is convinced.
There is an assumption that Russia deliberately uploaded the video so that the Russians would not surrender, because the Ukrainians would immediately be shot.
Too many negatives, I don't see any positives. Will they (the Russian military – Channel 24) go berserk to fight, realizing that it makes no sense to give up? Now the entire country of 40 million people will be chasing after them, counting relatives, who knows how it will all end for them. It's easier to give up, he says.
However, Feygin assures, the video could also accidentally get to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “War is a very complex mechanism. People are taken prisoner not only when they want to surrender. People can find themselves in a situation in which they are helpless – there are no cartridges, there is nothing. I tend to think that this is more an accidental version of this entry than a purposeful one. Negative consequences more than the benefits of motivating the military,” summed up Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin.
