Russians killed over 100 Ukrainian defenders who surrendered — Lubinets

by alex

Russian occupiers executed more than 100 Ukrainian servicemen who surrendered.

This statement was made by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets.

How many Ukrainian soldiers were killed by Russians

— As far as I know, according to information from the Office of the Prosecutor General, there have already been more than 100 recorded cases of Russians shooting Ukrainian prisoners of war. The total number of recorded Ukrainian prisoners of war executed by the Russians currently number 102, — the ombudsman said.

According to him, in fact, there are significantly more such cases. However, Ukraine has not developed a mechanism for officially confirming such information.

— When a Ukrainian drone recorded the actions of Russians from above, they are identified — this can be done. There is information received from sources that need to be additionally verified, there is no video, at least. But there is documentary evidence and testimony. In particular, Russian prisoners of war testify to this, but they cannot name any details, — explained Dmitry Lubinets.

The Ukrainian ombudsman noted that this complicates the verification procedure and legal recording of such crimes.

— In my opinion, the Russians have taken this as a practice, unfortunately, of treating Ukrainian prisoners of war. Once again, we do not see an effective reaction from the international community. It seems that no one wants to notice this, except Ukraine, to record these crimes and demand that the Russians be punished for them, — the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights suggested.

He noted that there are still no arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court for these Russian war criminals who are killing Ukrainian prisoners of war.

The Ombudsman believes that the occupiers are executing our defenders not only to demonstrate their disregard for international law, but also to support Russian propaganda.
