Russian scientists have found a way to do without artificial lung ventilation (ALV) in the treatment of coronavirus. This was announced by Valery Chereshnev, scientific director of the Institute of Immunology and Physiology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIA Novosti reports.
As Chereshnev said, inhalations with a helium-oxygen mixture were tested on 50 patients seriously ill with coronavirus. Of these, only one person needed a ventilator after inhalation. In particular, specialists have improved inhalation devices and made separate systems for inhaled and exhaled air.
Chereshnev assessed the experience as positive. “Now production is underway,” he added. The scientist emphasized that artificial ventilation of the lungs is a rather heavy load on the body. According to him, the helium-oxygen mixture heated to 90-95 degrees is much superior to mechanical ventilation.
In August, American scientists discovered a way to improve the condition of patients with coronavirus who are connected to a ventilator. Experts have found that music can have a positive effect on patients.
