Last month, CNN first reported that a Russian delegation had visited an airfield in central Iran at least twice since June to check on combat drones. Iran began a demonstration of Russia's Shahed-191 and Shahed-129 drones at the Kashan airfield south of Tehran in June, US officials said.
Both types of drones are capable of carrying precision-guided missiles. Sullivan said in July that the US believes Iran intends to sell hundreds of drones to Russia that the aggressor country could use in the war in Ukraine.
