Russian liberals are outraged. They are outraged that the President of Ukraine proposed or asked to ban them from traveling to civilized countries.

It's not that liberal, after all. And without respect for the great Russian culture, ballet, and especially for the work of Dostoevsky.

Let's make a reservation right away

We are not talking about the fact that political refugees from Russia should be expelled back to Russia in order to go to prison. No. After all, it is really surprising if, for example, during the Second World War, Einstein was sent back to Nazi Germany. It would have cost him and American science dearly. This is not rational. We are talking about tourist visas, which Russians still receive. And this is not normal.

Why? Just because it says that as if nothing had happened. As if Russian citizens living in Russia, paying taxes and supporting Putin, are not to blame for anything. They bear no moral responsibility for what the Russian army is doing on their behalf.

If the Russians have remained in Russia and do not oppose the regime, then they have compromised. This means that even if they suffer morally from the war, they still found arguments for themselves why they should stay. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a mortgage, a good job, or even an old mother. This is the compromise they made. They decided that it was more convenient for them to accept the war. And they have to pay for this compromise.

Russians should follow the example of Germany

The nature of sanctions is binary. They either exist or they don't. They may not be perfect. They may not seem fair. But their nature is always binary. You either impose restrictions. You either don't enter them. And we can consider our world not fair, but then what do we call a world where a country starts a war and genocide against another people, and they will not get anything for it. This world will be much worse than the world we live in. How would the Russian liberal-democratic crowd call such a world? Where you can do whatever you want. And then everyone lives as if this did not happen.

The issuance of tourist visas to Russians implies that nothing has happened. As if the citizens who came for shopping in Milan, for the waters in Karlovy Vary or for delicious wine in Tuscany, have nothing to do with the country that unleashed a brutal war. Given that with a probability of more than 50%, these citizens support a brutal war. That would be very cynical. This is still very cynical, because visas are still being issued.

Is it necessary to promote the brain drain from Russia? Yes. Is it necessary to help those who openly oppose the war and want to escape repression? Yes. These are useful Russians. Not good, but useful. And such people who openly declare that they do not want to live in a fascist state should be issued visas. They should be granted refugee status. Because it's fair. And because each such case weakens Russia. But not in the case when someone, having earned money within the framework of the rules of the Putin regime, goes for a short rest to the hated geyrop.

If a Russian compromised with the fascism of his country, then he deserved maximum rest near Sakami. And that is temporary. This is true. And with respect to the great Russian literature.

And yes, Dostoevsky has a novel. “Crime and Punishment”. Russia commits crimes. And it would be amazing if it went unpunished. So this decision is just in the spirit of great Russian culture and great Russian literature.

Russian liberals dream of a free Russia of the future. So, they need to take an example from Germany. Who has been redeemed. Atonement for your sins. And took on the collective guilt and collective responsibility. Responsibility for the annexation of Crimea. For the war in Georgia. For the genocide in Bucha. For the murder in Yelenovka. For the destruction of Mariupol. And the list is endless.

And until they realize that this is all a crime that needs to be punished, they won't have a chance to change their country. Russia will remain until the end an empire that threatens its neighbors and its citizens. And “visa-free” for Russians is only a small punishment for such crimes.
