Russian Kalashnikov sells weapons in circumvention of sanctions/Correspondent.net
After the occupation of Crimea and part of Donbass in 2014, a number of Russian companies in the military-industrial sector came under sanctions. However, as the journalists found out, the Russian state-owned concern successfully bypasses the restrictions and sells weapons to the United States.
As follows from the journalists' investigation, they are talking about the Russian state-owned concern Kalashnikov.
Russian weapons are sold in the USA
More than a year ago, the AV-46 air pistol appeared on the websites of American gun shops. Specialists immediately recognized in it the Russian IZH-46, sold under the Baikal brand.
Such pistols produces only Izhevsk Mechanical Plant in Udmurtia , which is part of the sub-sanctioned Kalashnikov concern.
Please note! This concern also produces guided artillery shells, drones and other equipment and weapons used by Russia in the war against Ukraine.
How the Kalashnikov weapons got to the American market
American arms dealers do not hide: they really sell IZH-46M pistols produced in Russia. At the same time, according to them, these weapons are produced not by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, but by Alfa Precision. Therefore, the sale of Russian weapons allegedly does not violate US law.
According to American users on the profile forum, the AV 46-M pistol comes in a cardboard box without written instructions and spare parts. The AV 46-M pistol differs from the original IZH-46M only in the color of the handle and the inscription on the barrel.

What is known about Alfa Precision
About the mentioned company Alfa Precision, which is the manufacturer of AV 46-M, there is a minimum of information in open sources. The company is known to successfully trade in:
- South Africa,
- Germany,
- Czech Republic,
- Serbia.
There is not a word about the production of pistols on the Russian Alfa Precision website. It notes that the company produces and sells only barrel blanks.
Interesting! The Kalashnikov Concern and Alfa Precision do not advertise their ties. The concern also did not announce the sale of rights to the production of the IZH-46 pistol. On the official website of the “Izhevsk Mechanical Plant” there is information that the weapons are produced in Izhevsk.
