Marina Ovsyannikova, a former employee of the Russian propaganda TV channel Perviy, who staged a live action during the news release, became a freelance correspondent for the German newspaper Die Welt and the Welt TV channel.

Ovsyannikova's new work

The publishing house notes that the Russian journalist will work, in particular, from Ukraine and Russia. She noted that she considers it her journalistic duty to “defend freedom”, for which Ukrainians are now fighting.

At a critical moment, Marina Ovsyannikova had the courage to show the Russian audience the truth without embellishment. In doing so, she upheld the most important journalistic ethics—despite the threat of state repression. I am glad to work with her,” said Ulf Poshardt, editor-in-chief of the Welt Group.

Performance on Channel One

On March 14, on the air of the propaganda Channel One, in the Vremya program, behind the presenter appeared a woman with a poster “No to war”, “Stop the war”, “Do not believe propaganda”, “Here you are being lied to”. Later it turned out that it was Marina Ovsyannikova, the channel's editor.

Before the action, she recorded a video message in which she admitted that she herself was a propagandist and she was ashamed of it. But she called on all Russians to protest against the war in Ukraine.

After the action, Ovsyannikova was detained and fined, then information appeared about the opening of a criminal case against her. But the punishment of the journalist raised questions among many people. At rallies, people are treated as cruelly as possible and arrested for 15 days, but Ovsyannikova was not even in a hurry to be fired from her job.
