Dmytro Marchenko is Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From the first days of a full-scale invasion, he led the defense of Nikolaev and the region.
According to Marchenko, Kherson residents are not just waiting for the liberation of territories from the Russians. They are also preparing to be included in the defense and confrontation.
“We will beat them from two sides. Those who are specially there do not go, they hid their weapons, they are just waiting for a signal. Nobody is going to surrender and no one plans to leave them, if someone thinks that let's stop the war on this – no, this is our country, these are our lands,” Marchenko said.

The situation in the Kherson region

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov believes that the invaders are retreating in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, because they are not ready to die either for Kherson or for Mykolaiv. The expert explained that it should be a pleasant surprise for Ukraine that the Russians can leave even fortified territories.
“Kherson residents are great! They have maintained such stamina, have been holding on for so many days. Their patriotism is amazing !”, Zhdanov stressed.

Kherson residents threaten Russians
The partisan movement in Kherson distributes leaflets that frighten Russian murderers. In their messages, they note that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are only 10 kilometers from the city, and as much as 558 kilometers to Rostov. Therefore, the invaders should hurry home.
