Since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Drobitsky Yar, the place of mass executions of Jews by the Nazi occupation forces in 1941-1942, has been shelled by Russian invaders in Kharkov.
Consequences of the shelling of memorials
The publication notes that the Memorial of Glory in Kharkov was fired on March 24. The fragments of the shells partially destroyed the pedestal and crushed the slabs. As a result of shelling, the area near the monument is covered with pits, fragments of shells are scattered along the alley. Because of the blast wave, the monument was strewn with earth.
Another Memorial to the victims of totalitarianism, located in Pyatikhatki, was fired on March 23. The projectile hit directly on the gravestone. The cross remained intact, but the grave was partially destroyed. Part of the ritual tablets with the names of the dead broke and flew away. Nearby were unexploded shells.
Also, in the course of recording the destruction in Kharkov, it was discovered that the Muscovites fired on and destroyed the memorial of Polish officers who were shot in Kharkov, as well as the memorial of the victims of totalitarianism in Pyatikhatki. There are broken memorial plates with names, burnt steles, unexploded shells, some of which flew to the grave, – said Sergey Petrov from Kharkiv.
A photo of the shelled Drobitsky ravine was published by eyewitnesses in social networks on March 26. The photo shows that the projectile damaged the Menorah – the menorah, which, according to the Bible, was located in the Tabernacle of the Assembly during the wanderings of the Jews in the desert, then in the Jerusalem Temple.
