Two Russian SU-27 fighters intercepted two US B-52H bombers over the Black Sea. This was announced on Wednesday, September 23, by TASS, citing a source at the Russian National Defense Control Center.
Su-27s were on their way to intercept when “two air targets” were approaching near the Russian border.
“To identify air targets and prevent violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, two Su-27 fighters from the air defense forces of the Southern Military District were taken into the air. The crews of Russian fighters identified the air targets as strategic bombers B-52H of the US Air Force and escorted them over the Black Sea, ”the center said.
On September 21, Russian fighters intercepted a British Air Force strategic reconnaissance aircraft over the Barents Sea.
Earlier in September, a Russian Su-27 fighter jet intercepted a US Navy P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea.
