Russian deputy was sentenced to 7 years in prison/Mediazone
In Russia, a municipal deputy Alexei Gorinov has been sentenced. He was accused of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army.
Gorinov has been in jail since the end of April. Judge Olesya Mendeleeva sentenced him to 7 years in prison – exactly as long as the prosecutor asked. spreading “fakes” about the Russian army during a meeting of the council of deputies: he called the war a war, not a “special operation”.
Court's verdict
On July 8, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow found Gorenov guilty of publicly disseminating “clearly false information about the Russian army using his official position, by prior conspiracy and motivated by political hatred.”
He was sentenced to 7 years in prison in a colony general regime with a ban on holding public office for 4 years.
