Russian carrier-based aviation came “nuts”

Russia “live” shows the world how its carrier-based aircraft is dying/Alexander Kovalenko's Facebook

В Russian carrier-based aviation is dying. In May of this year, it became known that the ground test training complex (NITKA) in Yeysk, which was being built in the Krasnodar Territory and intended for the training of carrier-based pilots, would never be built…

And this, despite the fact that its construction began back in 2012, funds were regularly allocated and even announced that the facility would fully operate in 2023.

Then Russia has abandoned the construction of a complex, so necessary for testing carrier-based aircraft, in favor of a complex at the Saki airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

At that time, I directly associated the abolition of the construction of NITKA in Yeysk with the repair and modernization of the cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”, on which they planned to place a conditionally modern automated short-range radio engineering complex. This complex performs the functions of flight control, with the help of it, ship-based aviation is landed on the runway of an aircraft-carrying cruiser, etc.

On the “Admiral Kuznetsov” before modernization, these tasks were performed extremely mediocrely and dangerously for the carrier-based aviation itself, taking into account the statistics of emergency events, “resistor-K42”. Regarding the new complex, it has not even passed the test, which was planned to be fully carried out on NITKA in Yeisk.

That is, until NITKA in Yeysk is completed, it is impossible to complete repairs modernization of “Admiral Kuznetsov”. But it is already known that due to sanctions, the modernization of the aircraft-carrying cruiser is canceled altogether, which means that there is no point in new equipment and complex.

The “funeral” of Russian carrier-based aviation

However, not even half a year has passed since the cancellation of the construction of NITKA in Yeysk, as it became known that the use of NITKA at the Saki airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea was stopped. That is, in Russia, the training of carrier-based pilots has been completely stopped.

According to information available in open sources, this was done due to the fact that the current situation in the airspace of the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea does not allow pilots to be trained … I wonder why allows?

Obviously, we can now observe the process of the death of Russian carrier-based aviation. In Yeysk, the construction of NITKA was stopped, and pilot training was stopped in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea. And this, in a sense, is not surprising.

Why does Russia need carrier-based aviation and carrier-based pilots if the only aircraft-carrying cruiser does not go out of repair in the near future, and even more – will it in general, not even in the near future? There are serious doubts about this.
