The Russian invaders decided to introduce rubles into circulation in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. However, Russia itself will suffer from such actions.
Vladimir Zelensky stated this in a new video message, Channel 24 reports.
Zelensky about Russia's attempts to transfer Ukraine to the ruble zone
In the temporarily occupied areas of Kherson, collaborators say that they are allegedly preparing to move to the “ruble zone”. However, the President of Ukraine stressed that this would only harm Russia.
Any attempts to transfer our territory to the administrative, monetary or any other system of Russia will mean only one thing: Russia itself will suffer from this,” Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine’s responses, sanctions and other reactions of the free world aggressive actions of Russia will not keep you waiting.
Russia introduces rubles in the occupied Kherson region
- On April 25, Russian troops seized the premises of the Kherson City Council and removed the flag of Ukraine. The occupiers held a special “meeting” at which they introduced the so-called “heads” of the Kherson regional and city administrations Volodymyr Saldo and Oleksandr Kobts.
- From May 1, the occupying authorities of the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region plan to “move into the ruble zone.” According to them, “the transitional period will take up to 4 months.”
- Ukrainian Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova said that the so-called transition to rubles is an act of annexation by Russia.
