Russia will receive a large sanitary zone on its territory, – OP Angela Figin

In Russia, from July 23, due to the “complicated operational situation”, access to 14 villages in the Belgorod region, which are located near the border with Ukraine, will be restricted. In fact, the aggressor country has created a so-called “sanitary zone” on its territory with its own hands.

In an exclusive interview with 24 Channel Adviser to the Chairman of the OPU Mykhailo Podolyak commented on the actions of the Russian authorities in the southwest of the aggressor country. It should be noted that one of the goals of the offensive on the Kharkiv region, which the Russian army began in May 2024, is the creation of the so-called “sanitary zone” in the north of the Kharkiv region in Ukraine.

What will Russia's immersion in war lead to

“Even if the fighting continues stagnantly as it does today, Russia will receive an ever larger sanitary zone on its territory,” Podolyak said.

He attributes this to the fact that in the future Ukraine will have more long-range capabilities. The only thing Ukraine lacks now in order to work more effectively against Russia is to close the skies further. For this, an additional 10-15 missile defense systems are needed. In particular, Patriot and SAMP/T.

At the same time, thanks to missile attacks, infrastructure not only in the occupied part of the territory controlled by Russia, but also in the border areas will be destroyed. 3 – 4 months of work of this type will have completely different social consequences for Russia,” noted the adviser to the chairman of the OPU.

The plunge of war into Russian territory would lead to other social consequences. Russians today already feel the war completely differently than they did a year ago. But if there was more destruction of infrastructure, ensuring war on Russian territory, this would create additional pressure on the Russian political elite.

Russia is not ready for an effective war

Podolyak noted that the offensive of the invaders in the Kharkov region showed that Russia does not have sufficient capabilities to organize offensive actions.

Russia has a bunch of still old resources, and continues to transport them to the occupied territories or border areas, in particular to the Belgorod region. “All this must be destroyed,” emphasized the adviser to the chairman of the OPU. actions or destruction of the enemy’s accumulated resources on the border, then now the war would gradually move away from the occupied territories, or plunge deeper into Russia.

“Russia does not have the resource and is not ready for effective war. And this means that if Ukraine received more weapons in a timely manner, all certain restrictions on striking deep into Russia were finally lifted, the aggressor would begin to lose,” added Podolyak.
