< p>Russian national teams and clubs will be suspended from European cups and other European competitions under the auspices of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) until the end of the war that Moscow unleashed against Ukraine.
UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin stated this in an interview with the publication N1.
Answering a journalist’s question about how long Russia will be suspended from European European Cup competitions, he answered briefly: Until the end of the war.

Ceferin also commented on the UEFA agreement with the Russian Gazprom. A few days after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the sponsorship contract was terminated.
“It just had to be done as a symbolic act.” It is difficult to advertise this company on fields where hundreds of millions of people watch matches since the war began. I'm sorry this happened, but it had to be done. However, it is also a fact that the people who shout about it the loudest are — these are the ones who are still buying gas from the same company, — says the UEFA President.
Then Čeferin was asked whether it was worth considering the feasibility of cooperation with Gazprom even before a full-scale war. He said no and called it “pure populism.”
Ceferin believes that Europe is not a world champion in human rights either. And the populists, who are pushing their own prices, with whom we should not deal, do this solely for self-promotion. The head of UEFA added that they return 97% of all money earned to football.
In March 2022, UEFA excluded Russia from candidates for a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This decision allowed Poland to immediately reach the final play-off selection.
Subsequently, in May of the same year, all Russian clubs and national teams were suspended from participation in the 2022/2023 international season.
