Russia will conduct information operations during the 2024 European election campaigns to turn Europeans against aid to Ukraine.
This was stated by the head of the US State Department's Office of Disinformation.
This year, dozens of countries around the world will elect new leaders: voting will take place in the UK, Austria and Georgia, as well as elections to the European Parliament in June.

Special Envoy and Coordinator of the Global Engagement Center (GEC) Jamie Rubin said that Russia and China are working hard around the world to pass off government propaganda as independent journalism, hiding its true source.
Rubin did not name specific countries where this is happening, but believes that the main threats this year are aimed at Europe, which is actively helping Ukraine in the war against Russia.
Russia hopes, he said, that it can, during the European elections, influence and change what has been a “remarkable coalition and disciplined opposition to its war”.
— “We believe the Russians will conduct information operations throughout Europe to try to change opinion about Ukraine during this election season,” he added.
Last year, the GEC discovered that the Russian Federation was funding the spread of propaganda and disinformation to local news outlets throughout Latin America. But in Russia these statements were called unfounded.
