Russia thinks it is very strong, but if we wanted, we would seize the Kursk NPP, – Zelensky Sofia Rozhik

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue the operation in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian army was close to the Kursk NPP, and if Ukraine wanted it, the station would have been captured.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with representatives of leading media outlets in Northern Europe.

Ukraine never wanted to capture the Kursk NPP

“Russia thinks it is very strong, but if we wanted to capture their nuclear power plant, we would have done it, we could have done it, but we never wanted it,” Zelensky said.

He explained Ukraine's position on this matter by the understanding that this would mean becoming the same as Russia.

We are not occupying their critical infrastructure, as they did with the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, the head of state emphasized.

Recall that in early October, the Russians accused Ukraine of attacking the Kursk NPP with HIMARS. Then the head of the Central Dispatch Center of the National Security and Defense Council Andrey Kovalenko noted that there was no expediency in attacking the plant.

“Of course, no one attacked the NPP, there is no expediency in this. The Russians are showing some kind of fire in Kurchatov and the video shows an explosion on the ground. What does the shelling of the NPP have to do with it? It is far away. It has nothing in common with the attack on the Kursk NPP,” Kovalenko said.
