Biden reacted to Putin's invitation to the G20 summit/Channel 24 Collage
Vladimir Putin has accepted Indonesia's invitation to the G20 summit in November 2022. However, the Biden Administration privately conveyed to Indonesia that Russia should not be allowed to attend the summit.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki noted that the summit was still six months away. It is not yet known whether Joe Biden himself will take part in the G20.
Biden believes that Russia should not be in the G20
According to her, President Biden categorically assures that Russia should not be there.
The President has publicly expressed his opposition to the participation of President Vladimir Putin in the G20, she said Jen Psaki.
She says there are no signs that Russia is ready for serious diplomacy.
Putin could have been invited even earlier
Psaki explained that the White House understands that Indonesia might invited Putin to attend the summit even before Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Nevertheless, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said his country wants to unite the G20. “Do not allow a split. Peace and stability is the key to the restoration and development of the world economy,” he assured.

At the same time, the United States welcomed the idea of Indonesia to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in the summit as a guest.
By the way, the United States has previously stated that it will not participate in the G20 meetings, if Russia is there. This is impossible due to the invasion of the aggressor state into Ukraine. The corresponding statement was made by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. She noted that she agrees with this decision of President Joe Biden.
