What Russia calls the “second stage”, and Ukraine – the “battle for Donbass”, has been going on for a week, based on the statements of officials and the intensification of hostilities.
However, no reports of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Neither the releases of the British and American intelligence services, nor even the reports of the Russian General Staff so far contain anything that could add optimism to the supporters of the “special operation”. The world sees indiscriminate shelling and actual marking time.

At the same time, there are numerous reports that Russia is still pulling up its forces to the theater of operations, but in the border Russian cities, oil depots are increasingly burning and railway lines are breaking down – logistics are being destroyed. And here, against my will, Arestovich's metaphor is recalled: “The Russian army is long, and we will eat it piece by piece, like salami.” , then you can eat it without even realizing that you have already eaten to the end.
In the meantime, we will move away from hostilities, because this is such a thing – you really don’t want to guess, and if, guessing and predicting, each time you spit over your shoulder three times, then the number of spittles can exceed all conceivable sanitary standards.
< p>For the time being, we note two important trends that are, of course, connected with battles, but so far, in general, do not occur directly on the battlefield.
Crisis of ideas
Russian propaganda is increasingly using the thesis about that Russians have to fight with NATO countries, with the United States, with the collective West, but not with Ukraine. Ukraine, they say, is just a playground.
Earlier, I noted the very beginning of using this technique, and it was obvious that over time the process would only increase until the thought itself became dominant.
Let's repeat the essence: against the background of your own failures, admit that you endure them in confrontation with the “non-state Ukraine” for propaganda is simply incomprehensible. This is “the whole West, NATO countries, the USA” – this is just a cover and an explanation why it did not work out, it does not work out, and, very possibly, it will not work out.
And it’s very possible that it won’t work because in the very West there was a refraction of the position and heavy weapons went to Ukraine quite massively and promptly. Which, if supplies continue, could decide the fate of both the “battle in Donbass” and a possible subsequent counter-offensive with the return of the temporarily occupied territories.
Who is at war with the Russians
By the way, this is what not confirmation that Russia has to fight with the West – Western weapons? Yes, still not confirmation.
Shoots still not a weapon. People are shooting. They are driven by motivation – patriotism, dedication, responsibility. Unmotivated soldiers throw their weapons on the battlefield. And the other side then calculates that they took more trophies than they commissioned tanks during the war.
No one in Russia doubts that it was the USSR and Soviet soldiers who won the war against Germany in 1941. And the fact that more than half of the explosives, without which it was impossible to equip cartridges and shells; half of all aviation aluminum used during the war years, without which it would be impossible to produce aircraft; almost 60% aviation gasoline; 409 thousand cars (1.5 more than in the USSR were produced in 1942-45), half of the steam locomotives and railway rails; as well as a huge amount of ready-made weapons – tanks, planes, guns, etc., etc.; a huge amount of other raw materials and foodstuffs – were supplied to the country by that same “collective West” virtually free of charge – under the lend-lease program, for which no one subsequently paid.
No one in the world, and first of all, the Americans themselves, the leading role of the Soviet soldier in the defeat of the Nazi troops was never questioned, no matter how huge the Western assistance to this very soldier was.
In the same way, no one in the world will ever doubt that they fought and are fighting on territory of Ukraine is Ukrainian soldiers. Whatever new or “new old” tricks the in-house propagandists use.
