Russia lacks its ammunition/Atlantic Council

Russia receives ammunition and military equipment from Iraq for the war against Ukraine. They do this with the help of Iranian arms smuggling networks.

This is reported by the British media, citing the Iraqi military backed by Iran and regional intelligence services.

What they supply to Russia

In particular, the Russian invaders receive:

  • RPGs (hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers);
  • anti-tank missiles;
  • Brazilian-made multiple launch rocket systems

The Tehran authorities also presented Moscow with an Iranian-made Bavar 373 missile system similar to the Russian S-300.

How Weapons delivered to Russia

RPGs and anti-tank missiles owned by the Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi were delivered to Iran. From there, the Iranian military transferred weapons to Russia across the Caspian Sea. Later, two multiple launch rocket systems were delivered along the same route, disassembled into parts.

We don't care where the heavy weapons went, because we don't need them yet. What is anti-American makes us happy,” said Hashd al-Shaabi, one of the sources.

Iraq is full of weapons

After the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in 2003, the US supplied many weapons to Iraq to protect the Baghdad governments from the rebels. It lasted 2 decades. Most of the weapons have passed into the hands of Iranian-backed Shiite groups.
