Russia ordered 2,400 drones from Iran: Zhdanov answered whether such a large-scale delivery is possible

by alex

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a meeting of G7 leaders that Russia ordered 2,400 more drones from Iran- kamikaze Shahed-136. However, this does not mean that she will receive them.

It is not even a fact that Iran can fully fulfill Russia's first order. Military expert Oleg Zhdanov spoke about this on Channel 24.

Russia will not necessarily receive drones

The specialist recalled that when information first appeared that Russia had received Iranian drones, it was said about 1,000 units. That is how much Russia seems to have ordered.

Today, from the data published by our intelligence, they have received about 300 kamikaze drones. So far, there is no other information, – said Oleg Zhdanov.

According to him, when the president voices such a figure, this may be a preliminary agreement between Iran and Russia. However, the term, how many years this order will be fulfilled is a very big question.

“I think that especially today, when Iran officially refuses to supply these drones for the third time, plus its technological capabilities, I think that they will complete the first task – 1,000 pieces,” the military expert concluded.

Shahed-136 in Russian use

  • This is a kamikaze drone made by Iran and first introduced in 2020. Its flight range is 2,500 km, and its warhead is 40-50 kg.
  • Back in July 2022, at the height of the Russian-Ukrainian war, rumors appeared in the Western media that after the visit of Vladimir Putin, Iran promised to provide Russia with such drones.
  • Even in late summer, Western intelligence began to report that Russia had received drones. Although Iran itself denied such cooperation in every possible way.
  • Russia uses these drones with a huge flight range to terrorize peaceful Ukrainian cities. In particular, they were used together with missiles during massive attacks on October 10-11.
