Russia may not have a war plan for 2025: what is its goal now?

by alex

The so-called “SVO” is draining Russia, although the Kremlin pretends that it is not this way. Russia has no plans yet to fight a war in 2025.

Because Vladimir Putin hopes that he can achieve all his plans in 2024. Publicist and political commentator Vitaly Portnikov shared this assumption with Channel 24.

What is evidenced by the absence of a plan

However, according to him, if Russia is unable to achieve the desired “victories” in 2024, the aggressor country will not stop and will continue to implement the plan in 2025.

Since the lack of plans for war in 2025 can only be explained by the fact that, from Putin’s point of view, next year there will no longer be any Ukraine, but there will be a union state: Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

Only half of Ukraine, the East and South-East, will be part of Russia, and the rest will remain to the puppet government of Ukraine, which will be part of the union state. That is, the plan will be implemented, which should take place during the period of February 24, 2022, when the “blitzkrieg” began,” the publicist emphasized.

What goal does Putin pursue

Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to achieve a “blitzkrieg” through the depletion of Ukraine, which he did not hide during the “direct line” on December 14.

The question arises, if the war ends in 2024, then in what positions? Will a country that has unresolved issues of territorial integrity be able to become part of the European Union? Even if there is some kind of political agreement on reconciliation with the state that occupies part its territory,” Portnikov emphasized.

There are two important aspects that should be understood:

  1. Or Russia admits that in 2024 all the territories it occupied will be liberated by Ukraine and, accordingly, the war ends.
  2. Or Russia is going to occupy some more in 2024 then territories and end the war.

In any case, Ukrainians, together with Europeans, must answer the most important question:

  • Is it possible to admit into the EU a state in which issues of territorial integrity have not been resolved in view of international law; in which part of the territory is controlled by another aggressor country or part of the territory is not recognized as a state by other EU states?

By the way, this applies to Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Serbia, Kosovo. Problems that will have to be solved globally, noted Vitaly Portnikov.

Ukraine has a different situation

Portnikov gave the example of the island of Cyprus, associated with a NATO country – Turkey. 36% of the territory is controlled by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The country is not annexed by Ankara, but is a self-proclaimed state.

Based on such a review, the issue of Moldova and Georgia can be resolved. At the same time, the situation with Ukraine is different. 4 regions of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea are annexed by Russia, said the political observer.

Thus, the admission to the EU of Ukraine with internationally recognized borders is at the same time an encroachment by the European Union on the constitutional law of Russia.

“I am absolutely not against such an encroachment, because I believe that the constitutional law of Russia has no significance along with international law. However, I do not know how this question will be answered Europeans. We are talking about the European position, not ours,” Portnikov noted.

The Cypriots committed to holding a referendum on the reunification of the island when they were admitted to the EU. They carried it out, but residents of part of the island who were part of the European Union voted against restoring territorial integrity. This case became an example of how you cannot trust those with whom you negotiate.
