Russia does not comply agreements and conditions for the treatment of prisoners of war, brutally killing them. One of the men was brutally killed by the Russian side after inhuman torture.
This is told by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova, referring to the story of a mother who was sent a photo of her dead son.
Ukrainian servicemen who were captured by Russian invaders in Mariupol approximately on April 19-20 were subjected to torture and ill-treatment, Denisova notes.
One of the men was brutally murdered, and the photo – confirmation of their actions, this morning was sent to the mother of an Azov resident.
The mother said that her son was surrounded by Russians and appeared on the video of Russian propagandists.
“Torture and murder prisoners of war are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War. In particular, Article 3 of the Convention prohibits violence against life and person, including all types of murder, mutilation, ill-treatment and torture,” Denisova stressed.
