Russia discredits Ukrainian refugees in the EU/Shutterstock
Europe meets Ukrainian migrants who are fleeing the war and wants to help them in every possible way. At the same time, the Russians are already working against this and are trying to undermine the confidence in the Ukrainians.
Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova reported on attempts to discredit Ukrainians in the EU. To do this, Russian propagandists create special fakes.
Europeans are “tired” of refugees from Ukraine
As Denisova explained, the Russian media disseminate information about the so-called “fatigue” of the inhabitants of European countries from the Ukrainians. They talk about the alleged inconvenience that they cause to those who live in Europe. They also spread lies that support for Ukrainians in Europe is becoming less active every day.
Dehumanization, the creation of a negative image of Ukrainians abroad is another manipulation by Russia in an attempt to neutralize the support of Ukraine from the civilized world. They want to instill an atmosphere of hatred and hostility towards them in the Russian-speaking environment of the EU and incite discrimination,” explains Denisova.
She also notes that Russian propaganda mainly affects the “domestic consumer”. Proof of this is the support of Ukraine and Ukrainians both at the state level of the EU countries and at the level of ordinary Europeans. They show solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
Pay attention! Article 3 of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees does not discriminate against seekers of protection on the basis of their country of origin. About 13 million Ukrainians have left Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. They cannot return to the occupied territories, so the war cannot be dragged out, as well as compromises with the aggressor country.
