Russian troops have been trying to capture the village of Kamenskoye in the Zaporizhia region for several days now. This is an important place for the enemy, as it is located at a height and near the Simferopol-Kharkov highway.
The spokesman for the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, Vladislav Voloshin, spoke about this on the air of the United News telethon.
Russians are trying to capture Kamenskoye
“For several days in a row, the enemy has been trying to capture this settlement (Kamenskoye, – Ed.) in this direction, break through our defenses and reach the right bank of the Yanchekrak River,” Voloshin said.
However, he noted that all Russian attacks are ineffective. Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their positions and do not allow the enemy to advance.
Now watching
“I want to assure you that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have not suffered any losses of positions in this settlement. That is, we are holding this settlement and successfully repelling enemy attacks,” he added.
Voloshin explained why Kamenskoye is important for the enemy: the settlement is located on a hill and near the Simferopol-Kharkov highway. This makes it an advantageous bridgehead, since then the Russians could shell Stepnogorsk from long-range artillery systems.
In addition, this would allow the occupiers to reach the southern outskirts of Zaporozhye.
