Russia wants to avoid responsibility for the strike on Okhmatdet

The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation warned that Russian propagandists are stepping up various information operations aimed at removing responsibility from Russia for the attack on the children's hospital.

In addition, Russian propagandists made a number of false statements that:

  • Ukraine is using part or all of the hospital allegedly to treat wounded soldiers;
  • Ukraine is storing missiles in the hospital;
  • The hospital was hit by Ukrainian air defense missiles, not a Russian missile.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War once again emphasized that the children's hospital Okhmatdet is not a military hospital.

– Many of the aforementioned false Russian information operations do not exempt Russian troops from legal or moral responsibility for the consequences of the strikes on Ukraine, – ISW emphasized.
