Since the start of the full-scale war, more than 250 armored vehicles have been removed from the base on Sakhalin. It is known that it is located at a distance of 6 thousand kilometers from Ukraine.

Aircraft or navy were used to transport equipment from the island. This is reported by Russian media, 24 Kanal reports.

How much equipment was taken out of Sakhalin Island

The authors of the article confirm their observations with satellite images. They show that since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 250 armored vehicles have been removed from the base.

It is located in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and is considered the most remote from the front, being 6 thousand km from Ukraine. To transport equipment from the island, they used aviation or the navy.

As of 2020, there were 593 armored vehicles in open storage at the Dachnoye base. By May 2024, their number had decreased to 342, which is 43% of the total.

Before the war with Ukraine, there were nine hangars at the base, but by 2024 only five remained, as the rest were destroyed. It is assumed that they also stored equipment, but its exact quantity cannot be determined.

The base could have housed:

  • T-72b tanks;
  • BMP-2b;
  • 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled guns;
  • 2S12 mortars;
  • BM-21 MLRS;
  • self-propelled ATGMs “Konkurs”;
  • SAM “Strela-10”;
  • ZSU “Shilka”;
  • anti-aircraft guns S-60.
