Russia is preparing another wave of disinformation on prisoner exchange: what is known

by alex

Russia is preparing to launch another wave of disinformation on its propaganda channels about the reasons for the suspension of prisoner exchanges.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

It is noted that the goal of the Russian special services is to destabilize the situation within Ukrainian society and sow distrust in government bodies that organize prisoner exchanges.

“Since the summer of this year, despite all the efforts of Ukraine to continue the humanitarian mission of returning prisoners of war, authorized representatives of the Russian side have been systematically complicating the exchange process,” the press service reported.

To justify its inaction, the Russian side is preparing accusations against Ukraine.

In particular, they are preparing to accuse the Coord Staff of inflating demands on the exchange formula and intending to return military personnel from all units without exception, in particular those towards which the Russian authorities have a special propaganda rage.

It is noted that on the Ukrainian side, nothing has changed in the negotiation process since they managed to return home up to more than 300 soldiers every month. Whereas the Russian Federation’s attempts to justify itself indicate that it is little concerned about the fate of a large number of Russian prisoners of war.

— Every prisoner of war or missing person, as well as civilians and non-combatants taken hostage, is important for Ukraine. We do not share the same level of negative emotions on the Russian side. All our soldiers defend their land, and did not come to someone else’s to kill, rob and destroy,” the press service added.

All Russian prisoners of war are held in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, and missions of the International Committee of the Red Cross have unhindered access to them, which the Russian side has not yet provided.

While in Ukraine the Coordination Headquarters operates as a single authorized body, Russia has still not been able to establish effective and unified work and communication.
