Russia is not going to blow up the ZNPP, – Sheitelman suggested whether Russia would let the IAEA into the station

Russia is afraid of NATO, so it will not allow any incidents at the Zaporozhye NPP. At the same time, Moscow, for a number of reasons, will agree to the admission of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency to the facility, seeing benefits for themselves.

Under the cover of the IAEA mission, the occupiers will probably continue to shell the Ukrainian forces and show international experts the picture the Kremlin needs at the station. Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman told Channel 24 about this.

Moscow is ready for a mission

The expert noted that Ukraine and Russia can agree on the admission of the IAEA mission, but Putin has already prescribed his own scenario, which will take place in the future.

It is realistic for Russia to let the IAEA into the nuclear power plant, since it will not be allowed into the entire territory of the plant. She will say “go here, don’t go here,” Sheitelman explained.

According to him, IAEA experts will walk under the escort of armed Russians along the desired route.

“They need to collect evidence of what is happening and whether there are traces of radiation. Then they will be told to talk to the station workers, who, under the threat of weapons, will say anything. Therefore, the IAEA mission is useless as long as Russian troops are there. Ukraine cannot place any hope on this” , – said the political strategist.

In his opinion, the threat to Ukraine also lies in the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to shoot in response to Russian strikes – because of this international mission, which will actually “cover the Russian army”.

Sheitelman emphasized that the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is a weapon for Russia for many reasons.

It's the same weapon as they use tanks, rockets, etc. But this is a different type of weapon, and they are not going to blow up the ZNPP, this is not their goal. Moreover, NATO has already explained that they will apply paragraph 5 of the NATO Charter if they undermine the station, or allow any incidents due to which there will be sources of radiation, the observer noted.

In his opinion, this practically eliminates the fact that the enemy will physically perform any actions on the station. However, he adds that they will continue to use the Zaporizhzhya NPP, since Rosatom is constantly located there, which is trying to manage the facility. According to him, the goal of Rosatom is an attempt to redirect electricity from the Ukrainian regions to the Russian Federation.

“This is a purely thieves' story. Of course, the military cannot do this. Therefore, representatives of the largest state-owned company in Russia, against which there are still no sanctions from either the US or the EU, arrived there. It is obvious that this organization is engaged in nuclear terrorism at the second station in a row. In Chernobyl they were doing it now in Zaporozhye,” the expert substantiated.

Russians want Minsk-3

Sheitelman said that the next target The Kremlin is trying to declare the nuclear power plant a “security zone” in order to store their weapons there and continue strikes on unoccupied territory.

They will shoot from there ad infinitum. It will be such a “Minsk-3” that they shoot, but we can't. This is their goal and all the activities of Moscow now – aimed at the world community, and not at the Russian one. Their task now is to explain to the whole world that Ukraine has created such a danger,” Sheitelman emphasized.

At the same time, he states that the world has not believed in Russian rhetoric and their manipulations for a long time.

“Their manipulations are childish, but the world understands who seized this station. From now on, Russia is responsible for what is happening at the station. Even if Ukraine accidentally strikes, Russia, which occupied this territory, will bear responsibility and NATO will apply paragraph 5 of its charter” , – the expert summed up.

What is happening at the Zaporozhye NPP: recent events

  • The actions of the Russian invaders led to the first ever complete shutdown of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. Despite the provocation of the enemy, the level of radiation in Energodar is still normal.
  • The occupants brought even more military and equipment to the ZNPP. In total, more than 40 units of military equipment are now deployed on the territory of the nuclear power plant. On August 22, the Russians brought two more armored personnel carriers and 6 special trucks to the plant's repair area at the ZNPP. In addition, there are more military personnel at the Zaporozhye NPP.
  • As a result of Russian shelling of Energodar, an employee of the Zaporizhzhya NPP was killed. Medics fought for the life of the man, but the injuries were too severe.
  • Energoatoms believe that periodic shelling of the ZNPP territory poses serious risks to the plant's safety.
