Russia is losing influence – CPD on searches in the office of the Russian agency Sputnik in Baku

In Baku, law enforcement officers conducted searches in the office of the Russian propaganda agency Sputnik-Azerbaijan.

The CPI reported this.

Search at Sputnik-Azerbaijan: Two employees detained

There are no official statements yet regarding the reasons for the investigation, but local media outlets report the detention of two editorial staff members suspected of having ties to Russian intelligence services.

Sputnik-Azerbaijan is part of a media holding company in Russia today that is directly subordinate to the Kremlin and is used as a propaganda tool. Back in February, the Azerbaijani authorities restricted the activities of one correspondent's editorial office, which effectively meant closing the branch. However, the agency continued to operate, and its employees regularly visited the office in Baku.

This incident is evidence of a further weakening of Russia's information influence in the Caucasus. Azerbaijan continues its course to cleanse the information space of Kremlin propaganda, which is an important step to strengthen the country's national security.

Let us recall that Russian propaganda resources are disseminating fake information citing anonymous sources about the alleged plans of the Ukrainian government to mobilize up to a million women from September 1.
