Russians regularly strike at the critical infrastructure of our state. The Ukrainian government was preparing for this, so there are no serious collapses on the energy front.

Despite this, Ukrainians need to prepare for a difficult winter. Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vadym Denisenko said this to Channel 24.

We need to be ready for strikes

According to adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russians can continue to strike. So, in winter, Ukrainians should:

  • try to switch to alternative fuels;
  • stock up on candles;
  • think about backup options for cooking.

You need to prepare for this and understand that there is a possibility. Again, we hope that we will be provided with air defense, which will allow us to shoot down the maximum number of Russian drones and missiles,” Denisenko summed up.

Heating season in Ukraine: latest news

  • Ukrainians are in for, perhaps, the most difficult winter in all the years of independence of our state. The government assured that the heating season in Ukraine will start on time. There will be no transfers or changes.
  • However, the temperature minimum in residential premises in winter will be lowered to 16 degrees. The point is that gas and coal should be used sparingly.
  • Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stressed that residential buildings and heating networks are almost 90% ready. So soon it will be possible to talk about the exit to 100%. But we will only talk about those regions of the state where there are no active hostilities.
  • But it is important not only to establish the operation of networks, but also to provide ourselves with the necessary amount of fuel that will generate heat. It is known that about 14 billion cubic meters of gas are stored in underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine.
  • Educational institutions are also hard at work preparing for winter. As the head of the Ministry of Education, Serhiy Shkarlet, said, more than 90% of all kindergartens, schools and universities are already ready for this heating season.
  • Ukrainians were urged to continue saving energy. This is necessary to carry out repairs and avoid planned outages. Thus, electricity consumption from 17:00 to 22:00 should be reduced by 25% – this applies not only to domestic use, but also to entrepreneurs.
  • Inhabitants of the territories adjacent to the war zone will be provided with fuel wood. More than 560 million hryvnias were allocated for assistance from the state budget.
