The Air Force commented on the likelihood of a decrease in Russian rocket attacks on Ukraine/Channel 24 collage

Ukrainian intelligence says that Russia has already spent 50-60% of its stocks of high-precision missiles in the war against Ukraine. However, there is no need to hope that rocket attacks will soon drastically decrease or stop, because the aggressor country still has many Soviet reserves.

Although the old missiles are indeed less accurate than modern high-tech ones, they remain no less destructive and threatening to our state. Yuri Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about this on the air of the unified news telethon, channel 24 reports. against Ukraine is unjustified

Yuriy Ignat commented that Russia's spending half of its own high-precision missile potential in the war against Ukraine is a rash step on the part of the Russian leadership.

These are huge reserves and unjustified expenses. Because a country like Russia must, so to speak, protect itself from external threats with these weapons. And they only spent half of the potential on Ukraine – missiles of the Iskander, Caliber, Kh-101, etc. types. โ€“ noted the official.

At the same time, the representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the Russians really had a lot of weapons left from the times of the Soviet Union. If we take into account only the number of warehouses that were in Ukraine, which regularly exploded at the same time, then one can only imagine how many Soviet missiles of the X-22, X-59, X-58, X -31″ etc. left with the enemy.

Yes, these missiles may be less accurate, but they are no less destructive and no less threatening to us. If we talk about high-precision weapons – yes, it is obvious that they (the Russians – ed. Channel 24) are already saving, and more and more they are using Soviet models against us, – Ignat emphasized.

The main task of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine< /h3>

The representative of the Air Force noted that now, despite the continuation of Russian rocket attacks on the territory of Ukraine, the main task of anti-aircraft missile systems and fighter aircraft is to block the Ukrainian sky in order to prevent enemy aircraft from entering our airspace. After all, then the Russians will no longer use missiles, but free-fall bombs, of which the enemy has millions of tons in their warehouses.

We saw what happened to Mariupol and other front-line cities, when tactical aviation flies in and drops bombs of 500 kilograms, flying and destroying virtually everything in its path. Therefore, in fact, for 2 and a half months, when Russian aviation does not fly into our airspace, the Air Force controls it,โ€ Ignat emphasized.

According to the official, it remains to wait until the West still provides Ukraine with modern systems – anti-aircraft missile systems and fighters, which we also need enough to protect our state in order to cover the sky with our own forces.

Is it easier to shoot down Soviet missiles than modern ones

Yuri Ignat noted that, unfortunately, shooting down Soviet missiles is no easier than high-precision missiles. That, according to him, is the paradox that high-tech missiles “Kh-101” and “Caliber” fly at a speed of about 900 kilometers per hour, and there is a certain possibility to intercept and destroy them.

There is a whole system of interaction, warning, radar reconnaissance, there is data from our Western partners. This is all generalized, there is a large algorithm of actions in this situation. And, believe me, everything possible is being done in cooperation with the units of the Ground Forces in order to destroy them, – the speaker of the Air Force assured.

If we are talking about Onyx, X-22 and X-31 ” are rockets that fly at a speed of about 4 thousand kilometers per hour . It is very difficult to shoot down such a rocket. And it's even more difficult to shoot down Iskanders – this is a ballistic missile flying along a ballistic trajectory and descending from above on the target at a speed of more than 8 thousand kilometers per hour.

Therefore, we need modern complexes and systems that can withstand these missiles. With our tools that we have in service today, it is very difficult to do this. It happens, but rarely, – summed up Ignat.
