There are currently almost 700,000 Russian troops on Ukrainian territory. Despite their numbers, the enemy is unable to achieve the desired success.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during a conversation with journalists.
Russia does not have the desired success on the front
Zelensky said that there are currently 695 thousand Russian troops in Ukraine. In addition, tens of thousands more are located near the border – in the Kursk and Belgorod directions, in particular opposite Sumy and Kharkov. According to the president, about 52 thousand occupiers are concentrated in the Sumy direction alone.

Despite such a large number of troops, Russia has not made any significant gains. In particular, the situation in Sumy Oblast remains stable. Over the past week, the enemy has advanced 200 meters, but Ukrainian forces have recaptured these positions and even pushed the Russians back a little.
“They really need success on the front. Because if there is no corresponding success, we believe that President Trump will rather put pressure on them with sanctions, etc.,” the president noted.
He noted that currently 23% of all shelling along the front line is in the Sumy direction. Russia is actively using bombs and North Korean missiles there.
In the Kharkov direction, the situation remains difficult, but without significant changes. In particular, in the Vovchansk area, there are more strikes, but there are no more offensives.
In the Liman direction, the Russians tried to break through in the Konstantinovka area. They used dozens of motorcycles and 24 units of heavy military equipment. The Ukrainian military destroyed 20 of them and 16 motorcycles – the enemy retreated.
In the Pokrovsk direction – no changes. In the Dnipro region, as Zelensky said, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups of several people are trying to break through, but are not successful.
