Russia forcibly recruits migrants from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan for war – GUR

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports a new wave of forced mobilization of citizens of Central Asia, in particular labor migrants from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, whom the Russian authorities are actively recruiting for the war against Ukraine.

Russia Mobilizes Citizens of Central Asia

According to intelligence, Russian security forces systematically deceive foreigners with promises of quick money under short-term contracts.

However, the real chances of not only earning money, but also surviving are minimal. Most of the so-called volunteers die on the battlefield.

Among the recently eliminated mercenaries:

  • Umarov Sirojiddin Sabirjanovich – citizen of Uzbekistan, private of the 164th separate motorized rifle brigade (military unit 11740), badge AB-986480, born 03/19/1984 in Tashkent;
  • Kholbuvozoda Muhammad Fayzullo – citizen of Tajikistan, call sign Basmach, private of the 1st motorized rifle regiment (military unit 31135), badge AB-052894, born 01/28/1984, signed a contract on February 25, 2025.

Separate units are created from mobilized migrants, which are sent to the most dangerous parts of the front.

Once their service is over, even if they survive, they face persecution at home – in most Central Asian countries, participating in combat operations in the interests of a foreign army is punishable by imprisonment.

Mobilization in Russia

Let us recall that at the end of January, the Main Intelligence Directorate announced the Russian Federation’s mobilization plans for 2025.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia intends to mobilize at least 280 thousand people in 2025.

Among those mobilized there must be at least 126 thousand convicts.
