Russia is threatening a new large-scale offensive against Ukraine, including Kyiv. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov is sure that the enemy does not have the strength to occupy Kyiv, so he can focus on other goals.
Danilov is convinced that Ukrainian society will not allow Russia to capture Kyiv. However, he admits that Russia may attack Ukraine's arms supply chains.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted that Ukraine is ready for Russian attacks and will give a fitting rebuff to the invaders.
They do not have the strength to capture Kyiv. Moreover, our society will not allow it. With regard to the western regions, they will try to cut off our arms supply routes. We are ready for such a scenario, we understand what is happening and will give a worthy rebuff,” Danilov said.
Russia launched a new offensive
- Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny at the end of 2022 stated that Russia was planning a new offensive and preparing 200,000 mobilized. Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov informed that Russia had mobilized half a million people.
- Advisor to the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak said that a large-scale Russian offensive had already begun. The main and active hostilities are taking place in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
- The Russian invaders are trying to resume offensive operations in the Lugansk direction of the front, but they are not succeeding. During the week, the activity of the occupiers increased along the Svatovo-Kremennaya line in the west of the Luhansk region.
- The head of the Donetsk OVA, Pavel Kirilenko, also said on February 9 that the Russian offensive had definitely already begun. Kirilenko noted that Russia is concentrating its forces and a large amount of equipment on the Bakhmut, Avdeevsky and Novopavlovsky directions.
- Russian troops are trying to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian defenders and capture Bakhmut, Avdeevka and Vugledar. Kirilenko added that the Russian offensive was unsuccessful and the enemy was suffering losses.
