The CSTO reported that Russia has not officially asked for help due to the situation in the Kursk region. The organization's secretariat confirmed that there were no official requests or negotiations on this issue.

However, the CSTO noted that the situation in the Kursk region is “a new stage of escalation of the military conflict.” The organization added that they are closely monitoring the developments, observing the Organization's Charter.

Has Russia asked the CSTO for military assistance?

There were no official negotiations or meetings to discuss the situation in Russia's border regions, the CSTO Secretariat said in a statement.

They explained that, according to the procedure adopted by the CSTO, a member state of the association that needs military assistance must make an official request to the Organization. Russia has not made any appeals regarding the situation in Kursk Oblast.

In its response, the Moscow-headquartered organization called the entry of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into Kursk Oblast “a new stage in the escalation of the military conflict in the CSTO's zone of responsibility.”

“Our analytical service is working around the clock. We are closely monitoring the development of the situation and will act strictly in accordance with the Organization's Charter,” the Secretariat's response says.
