Russia deliberately shelling corridors through which IAEA mission should reach ZNPP – Podolyak

Russia is deliberately shelling the corridors through which the IAEA mission is supposed to reach the ZNPP, – Podolyak

Russia is shelling the corridors along which the IAEA mission is supposed to travel to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Of course, the occupiers do this on purpose in order to offer passage through Crimea or the occupied territories in the East of Ukraine.

This was stated by adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak, noting that this is quite predictable. However, Ukraine's position remains unchanged.

Everything is predictable. Russia is deliberately shelling the corridors along which the IAEA mission is supposed to reach the ZNPP. Anything to offer passage through Crimea/ORDLO. The position of Ukraine is unchanged – access is only through the controlled territory of Ukraine, – Mykhailo Podolyak emphasized.

The adviser also stressed that the Ukrainian side demands:

  • demilitarization of the nuclear power plant;
  • immediate withdrawal of Russian troops;
  • only Ukrainian personnel should remain at the plant.< /li>

Briefly about the forthcoming visit of the mission to ZNPP

The IAEA mission of 14 specialists has already arrived in Kyiv. The inspectors will soon go to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with an inspection.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that they had already coordinated the details of the mission with the director general of the Grosi organization and were waiting for clear statements about the facts of Russia's violations of nuclear safety protocols at the ZNPP.

According to Dmitry Kuleba, this mission will be the most difficult in the history of the IAEA.

However, the IAEA and the world must force Russia to leave the ZNPP. Only this will ensure nuclear safety at power plants. After all, the situation at the station is complicated – the Russians continue to periodically shell the territory.
