Due to heavy losses in the war, Russia could start forming the 4th Volunteer Army corps. The day before, the 3rd Corps simply melted away in the Kharkiv region.
Irregular units will do little to help Russia – ISW
A Russian military blogger announced the formation of a new corps. Analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War believe that this information may be true, because Russia has recently begun to actively form regional detachments.
Earlier, the subjects of Russia began the announcement of contract service in volunteer units around the time of the formation of the 3rd Army Corps. Russian forces are increasingly recruiting prisoners, bringing in Cossack detachments, and secretly mobilizing men from the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions. – the report says.
Researchers believe that the formation of such units adds little combat power to the Russian forces fighting in Ukraine. After all, the 3rd Corps, which held positions in the Kharkov region, could not effectively defend itself and simply “melted”. Therefore, these formations have practically no effect on the course of the war.
New corps will lead to tension in the Russian army
The formation of such units will lead to one thing – increased tension, inequality and lack of cohesion in the Russian army. The Russian media have written about cases of discrimination within the Chechen units even earlier. Their command first sends soldiers of other nationalities into battle, and only then – Chechens.
In addition, the enemy may encounter problems in the behavior of prisoners thrown into the war. After all, they were convicted of violent crimes.
The ISW noted that all units fighting for Russia have a different level of military training, a decentralized command structure, a different perception of the war and motivation to fight. The only thing that unites them is absolutely inadequate training.
The 3rd Corps held out for several days
Earlier, the media said that the 3rd Army Corps of Russia lasted only a few days in the war against Ukraine . The invaders were sent into battle to prevent the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. However, the new group was defeated and fled the battlefield along with other “comrades”.
