On the night of Friday, November 22, the Russian military carried out an attack on Sumy, using the Shahed drone, which is equipped with shrapnel.
Defense Express analysts explained what exactly Russia used to shell Sumy.
Shelling of Sumy: what the occupiers used to strike the city
According to analysts, the Russians used the Shahed, which has a combined-action thermobaric munition, to which 2,300 steel balls with a diameter of nine millimeters are added.

This type of munition is especially effective in hitting people who are outside shelters. Therefore, it is likely that the Russian troops only had the goal of killing civilians with such a strike on Sumy.
It is noted that it is currently unknown whether the explosions in Sumy were caused by a drone with a fully shrapnel charge, or a combined warhead of the TB BCh-50, which has a thermobaric effect.
Analysts believe that most likely, the Russians used thermobaric Shahed to shell Sumy. Although they do not rule out the creation of a shrapnel warhead, its real effectiveness will be significantly less, since it has a limited ability to penetrate obstacles.
It should be noted that the explosions in Sumy thundered on November 22 at approximately 05:10. The enemy launched a massive attack on a residential area using four Shaheds.
As a result, two people were killed and 13 others were injured after a series of powerful explosions.
