Russia has asked Turkey to help withdraw some of its troops from Syria, says media outlet Sofia Rozhik

Rebels in Syria have overthrown the Assad regime. Before that, some of the Russian troops managed to escape from there, but some of them still remain on Syrian territory.

In Turkey they say that Russia asked them to help save these soldiers. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to CNN Türk.

Russia has planned how it will save its contingent

The media writes that Russia allegedly asked Turkey to help with the “safe exit” of its army from Syria.

“The influence of Iranian proxy forces in Syria has been declining for a long time. Russia is looking for a way to safely withdraw some of its soldiers from Syria with the support of Turkey,” the publication notes.

However, Russia probably decided not to save everyone with the help of the Turkish side.

It looks like they will withdraw their soldiers from region, with the exception of the Tartus naval base and the Khmeimim air base, CNN reported.

According to journalists, the rescued Russian soldiers were to be sent to the region where the Turkish armed forces are located, and then by air to Russia.

Recall that Syrian rebels have already entered the cities where Russian military bases are located – Tartus and Khmeimim. Subsequently, Russian propagandists announced the capture of the city of Jableh, which is practically adjacent to Khmeimim, and also the settlement of Manbij.

A total of 7.5 thousand Russian soldiers may currently be in Syria, most of whom are at bases in Tartus and Latakia.
