Romanian youth protest after Kremlin-friendly candidate Sofia Rozsic wins first round of elections

On Sunday, November 24, the first round of presidential elections was held in Romania. Romanian youth came out to protest against their results.

They do not agree with the victory of the pro-Russian candidate. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to Euronews.

“Putin, don't forget, Romania is not yours”

More than a thousand people gathered at the protest in University Square in Bucharest on Tuesday, November 26, against “fascism, war and Georgescu”.

Putin, don't forget, Romania is not yours, the youth chanted.

According to the results of the first round of elections, the victory was won by the ultra-right nationalist candidate Calin Georgescu with 22.95%. The success of this pro-Russian politician has worried, by the way, not only the Romanians themselves, but also the international community.

Before his victory, he was little known. And the Kremlin-friendly Georgescu spent his election campaign almost exclusively on TikTok, where many of his videos went viral.

Elena Lasconi, who received 19.18% of the vote, will compete with him in the second round.

The Romanians will finally choose their president on December 8.
