A few days ago, Russian drones flew into the territory of Latvia and Romania. These incidents became an incentive for action among NATO countries.

After the incident with the violation of airspace by a Russian drone, Romanian parliamentarians plan to revise the legislation. They could give the military the right to shoot down enemy drones that cross the state border, even in peacetime.

When the Romanian Parliament will consider the bill

The Romanian Defense Ministry reported that “a radar surveillance system identified and tracked the trajectory of the drone, which entered national airspace and then flew towards Ukraine.”

Bucharest also scrambled two F-16 fighters to monitor the Russian drone. It is known that residents of the southeastern Romanian counties of Tulcea and Constanta were warned to hide.

Against this background, the Romanian Parliament may consider a bill that would allow the country's Armed Forces to shoot down Russian UAVs that enter the country's airspace during peacetime.

The publication noted that the corresponding bill is planned to be considered at the next session.

Recall that, according to Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, his country did not shoot down the Russian attack drone, because the UAVs were not aimed at Romanian targets. He also added that in this way Russia is testing the ability of neighboring countries to react.
